Mickey Mouse Book (1930)
Super Rare with Dec. 27th 1930 Christmas Greeting
- VG 4.0
Overall excellent condition with no tears or cut outs. Nice green cover colors, all attached all complete. Structurally around Fine to Fine+ due to some spine wear. Lowered to VG because many of the characters in the interior and covers have been colored in with crayon. The coloring is not messy or excessive, and does not detract too much from the overall appearance.
About this book: This is the extremely
rare 2nd print version, as noted in Overstreet, it contains the theater
promotion with the Christmas greeting on the inside front cover dated Dec. 27th
1930. Overstreet says only one copy is known to exist (but keep reading).
The Overstreet Price Guide (in the Platinum Age Section) lists the only know copy to have a value of $8000 in Fine, compare that to the normal 1st print value of $1400.
This item was obtained from the family of the original owner. He had two of them, and I sold the other much lower grade issue last year. I was planning on keeping this one, but have decided to put it on the market. The original owner said his grandfather was big in theatre management in Spokane WA in the 20's and 30's and these were from his theatres. His mother did the crayon coloring on this book when she was 8 years old in 1930. I believe 4 copies of this book are now known. The two I obtained, the one from Overstreet, and I have learned of a PGX graded VF copy in a private collection that was estimated to be worth $50,000.
I am happy to answer any questions.
