RUPERT BEAR ANNUAL 1942. A very pleasing example with very clean, bright contents. Neat Pencil inscription to name box. 3/6 price tag intact. The covers are also as clean as you are likely to see. We have had this book several times in various conditions. We always thought a truly fine example didn't exist but did sell one for £800 about 11 years ago through one of our specialist book auctions. This book is certainly better than VG and must be one of the very best examples extant. The Daily Express employed several printing companies to deal with the massive quantities of the books they wished to supply - even one printing house would be asked to produce a million or more copies. This one is printed by Harrison.
In over 25 years trading we have only seen two or three in better condition. According to the Rupert Section in The Hamer Comic Annual Guide the book in VG was valued at £500 in 2000. This book is a superior VG example and the starting bid is a very reasonable £385. We do not place reserves on our merchandise nor do we ask for offers.
