Up for bid is the first printing of Star Wars No. 1, the Bronze Age collector's classic from 1977 that actually went on sale before the movie debuted. It is in approximately VF/NM (9.0) condition.
I
try to grade conservatively and accurately, but because I am not a
professional grader, I also have provided large scans, photos, and added written
details so that you can judge for yourself. (Scroll to the bottom of
listing for large scans, with links to even larger scans.)
The good:
The colors and gloss are really amazing. Lies perfectly flat. Corners are sharp. Issue is complete with no interior tears. Staples are clean
and firmly
attached at centerfold. Pages are off-white. Ready to send to CGC.
The not so good: At 600 dpi (see super-high resolution scans below), it's tough to spot serious flaws. I rate it as VF/NM (9.0) because of minor spine ticks and minor chipping.
The current Overstreet Price Guide lists the value of this issue as $82 in VF/NM (9.0) condition and $120 in NM- (9.2) condition.
All of the pros and cons should be visible from scans and photos, but
please contact me with any questions. I take great care in shipping
items and will ensure that your comic arrives bagged, boarded, and
safe. I also can combine shipping costs. If you win more than one
auction, request an invoice before paying so that I can combine the
cost for you.
Star Wars fans: Please don't miss my other auctions this week! I am auctioning Star Wars 1-25, most in VF/NM or better condition, as well as Star Wars Annual No. 1.
