WESTERN COMICS 71 GIL KANE JACK ADLER GREY TONE COVER INFANTINO ART VERY GOOD/FINE

WESTERN COMICS 71, the September-October 1958 edition, boasts a Pow-Wow Smith grey tone cover by Gil Kane and Jack Adler.  Grey tone covers (formerly better known as “wash” covers) on DC war comics are well-known, but the Western ones less so.  This is nonetheless a beauty.  Carmine Infantino and Joe Giella illustrate the Pow-Wow Smith story “3 Clues to Outlaw X” while Kane and Giella tackle “The Amazing Quest for Nighthawk’s Identity”.  Howard Sherman draws the Wyoming Kid story “Mystery of the Bearded Prospector”.  This copy is in Very Good/Fine condition, although that it even exists is a cause for celebration.  There are two examples of this issue in the CGC census.  Overstreet 2013 Values:  Very Good 4.0  $20  Fine 6.0  $30
